Tigers Outfielder John Oranchak Commits to Central Connecticut State University
The lefty leads the league in home runs and RBIs
Linden Tigers outfielder John Oranchak committed to Central Connecticut State University out of the transfer portal last Friday.
The superstar made a significant leap from his freshman to sophomore season at Middlesex Community College. In 121 at-bats in 2024, Oranchak recorded a .298 batting average with a homer and 13 RBIs on 36 hits. After redshirting due to injury in 2025, the Colts lefty batted .342 with six home runs (tied for first on Middlesex) and 54 RBIs (3rd) on 66 hits in 193 at-bats during the 2026 spring season.
Oranchak also brings his strong defensive presence to the Blue Devils. In his two seasons with Middlesex, the outfielder recorded just six errors on 112 total chances for a .946 fielding percentage. In ten games with the Tigers this summer, the lefty hasn't recorded a mistake in the field and leads the league in home runs (2) and RBIs (17) with a .286 batting average in 35 at-bats.
The East Brunswick native joins a Blue Devils team that went 17-27 this past spring, their worst season since 2015.
